Art sessions are one of my favourite things to do. I simply love the meditative feeling of sketching on paper – it helps me relax and feel good. Whether you’re an artist of not, drawing or doodling may help calm the mind when you want to spend quality time by yourself.
Today I’ve round up a couple of essentials I use whenever I have what I call an ‘art session’, which is basically me spending hours on drawing or painting. 😀
Here they are…
I mainly use this for drawing references and inspiration on sites like Pinterest (all hail Pinterest!) and tumblr. When I use references from the internet, I try not to copy it too precisely because I like my work as original as I can!
My Phone and Portable Speaker
I love listening to music while I draw, especially on the radio with songs I’ve never heard before. It creates a lively atmosphere and just makes me happy.
Organised Coloured Pencils
You may have seen in one of my old posts that I made a DIY pencil organiser. This is amazing because it keeps everything so neat. As you can see, I have all my similar shades together so it is easy to access.
My art book, rubber, pencil and sharpener
Well, these are pretty straightforward. I always have these close by.
Fun fact: my sharpener is probably older than I am and it still works flawlessly. I’m also nearing the end of my art book so I’ll have to get a new one soon! As for the type of art book I use, for drawing I usually go for the ones with over 110GSM because I tend to press hard on the paper. For painting I use 200GSM. Basically, the higher the GSM, the thicker the paper.
Oh and here is a little drawing I’m working on of Rowan Blanchard. I’m only halfway done with the face so she still kind of looks like a zombie, oops… I’ll be posting the finished drawing a well as a progress video soon so stay tuned!
That’s all I have for today!
