Live behind the screen…

My life isn’t special. But sometimes, it’s fun to make it seem like it.

I love to take photos. Sometimes I post things on the internet when I’m doing something cool. I edit the picture and post it for the world to see.

But behind the screen, reality hits.

Behind the screen, that gorgeous mouth-watering waffle edited with that brightly lit background, is simply my semi-burnt afternoon snack on top of a sheet of A4 paper. It was still a delicious waffle, but my photo made it look much cooler than it was.

What I’m trying to say is that I think these days a lot of us get so caught up in taking photos and looking at other people’s photos that we often forget that there is, in fact, a real life behind the screen. Yeah, maybe the real life isn’t as cool as it looks in the image, but, well… at least it’s real. And by spending all that time worrying about taking the perfect picture or comparing ourselves to others, we could be missing out of the bests bits of real life.

For example, instead of trying to find nice lighting for this tea, I could have been comfortably appreciating its richness and warmth. Or, instead of scrolling through someone else’s delicious breakfast pancakes, I could have been making some myself.

I’ve decided to make a bold move to take a break from social media for the rest of this week. Photos and updates are fun, but maybe it’s time to live real life as it should be.

So what’s going on in my real life behind the screen? Well, I’m just a regular girl with lots of school work and things she wants to do. I currently have heaps of assessments and homework, (hence my lack of posts this week) but I’m trying to keep it together! I’ve also started journal writing again, which is fun. Some other things I’d love to start doing as well is drawing and making a bucket list… Hopefully I’ll get around to doing them soon.

As for now, farewell social media (until next friday!) I’m actually very excited to do this.

What’s going on in your real life?

  1. Ooh, so true. It IS hard to remember that behind that screen, there’s a real life, and not a perfect one at that. I love that you said you just used a piece of plain A4 paper! Oftentimes we think if we want to have a big fancy blog, we have to use big fancy equipment, and sometimes it’s good to use that stuff, but we’re not limited to that stuff! Enjoy your break!

    1. Hey Maggie, I completely agree! A4 paper always works wonders for beautiful pictures. As small bloggers, we just have to work with what we’ve got! Thank you, I did have a lovely break 🙂

    1. Hi there, that’s very true, photos can tell amazing stories. It’s just that sometimes I think I get too overwhelmed about posting pics on social media that I forget to enjoy the real world, hehe 🙂

    1. That does sound wonderfully chaotic. It’s great to hear I’m not the only one! Though I do love taking photos, it’s always nice to step back and enjoy reality – having a balance between both worlds is the key, I guess! 🙂
